Let's focus in on Hockey East. Arguably one of the toughest conference in the entire country, it features five ranked teams; four in the top ten. Hockey East is home to the #1 team in the nation, Boston College, as well as #6 Boston University, #7 UMass-Lowell, #10 Maine, and #14 Merrimeck. Merrimeck needs to make some extra noise to secure their place, but everyone else is fairly safe. We're in the Quarterfinals here, starting tonight and lasting through March 11th. We asked Randy, big Maine fan, about these teams for these previews.

(8) Massachusetts Minutemen @ (1) #1 Boston College Golden Eagles
-Massachusetts (13-16-5, 9-14-4)
--Randy: UMass hockey is irrelevant.
-#1 Boston College (25-10-1, 19-7-1)
--Randy: America needs to know that Boston College hockey is HOMO GAY.
BC is #1 in the country for a reason. UMass has a tall order in front of them. However, it's important to know that UMass holds the season advatange at 2-1 over BC. Maybe an upset brewing? I hope that a tall order of a good brew.
Robby's pick: BC 2-1

(7) Providence Friars @ (2) #7 UMass-Lowell River Hawks
-Providence (12-18-4, 10-14-3)
--Randy: I don't know, uh, I don't know anything about Providence hockey.
-#7 UMass-Lowell (22-10-1, 17-9-1)
--Randy: I have a friend that use to live next to Lowell.
It's been another tough year for Providence. In all sports. They might want to consider quitting them. In any case, the River Hawks look primed to seize the conference crown. They lead this season series 2-1 over the Friars.
Robby's pick: UMass-Lowell 2-0

(6) New Hampshire Wildcats @ (3) #6 Boston University Terriers
-New Hampshire (14-17-3, 11-14-2)
--Randy: University of No Hardware. Enough said.
-#6 Boston University (21-12-1, 17-9-1)
--Randy: Ughhharaaragahghghghgh
The Terriers have defeated UNH all three times they've faced off so far this season. Can they get two more? UNH comes off a good showing against Maine, and are primed and ready for an upset. The Terriers definitely have their number, however.
Robby's pick: Boston U 2-0

(5) #14 Merrimack Warriors @ (4) #10 Maine Black Bears
-#14 Merrimack (17-10-7, 13-9-5)
--Randy: I've got nothing.
-#10 Maine (20-11-3, 15-10-2)
--Randy: Lots of history. I'm from Maine.
Merrimack has the series lead here, 2-0-1. However, coming into Orono is no easy task for any team. The Warriors have plenty of work to do to ensure their spot in the NCAAs and winning this series would probably seal the deal.
Robby's pick: Maine 2-1
