Hoops Preview -- March 7, 2012 (Part III)

Keeping on with a big day of College Hoops previews!  We're going to cap off the major conferences' tournaments' late games.  Later on we'll wrap up the later games for the mid-majors.  Here we go!!!

via AP
Oklahoma State Cowboys (15-17, 7-11) vs. #5 Missouri Tigers (27-4, 14-4)

7 pm on ESPN 3
Big XII Quarterfinals; Kansas City, MO
Season Series:  Tied 1-1
Robby's pick:  Mizzou.  Missouri played out the stretch looking extra motivated.  The last time these teams matched up, the Tigers got their revenge for being upset in Stillwater.  Look for that kind of result again.

Louisville Cardinals (23-9, 10-8) vs. #9 Marquette Golden Eagles (25-6, 14-4)
7 pm on ESPN
Big East Quarterfinals; New York, NY
Season Series:  Marquette - 1-0
Robby's pick:  Marquette.  I'm still not sold on Louisville, and Marquette is just too strong for the Cardinals to match up with anyways.

Virginia Tech Hokies (15-16, 4-12) vs. Clemson Tigers (16-14, 8-8)
7 pm on ESPNU
ACC Tournament 1st Round; Atlanta, GA
Season Series:  Tied 1-1
Robby's pick:  Clemson.  The Tigers still believe that a tourney bid is up for grabs.  Look for them to quell any resistance from the Hokies.

Auburn Tigers (15-15, 5-11) vs. Ole Miss Rebels (18-12, 8-8)
7:30 pm on ESPN 3
SEC Tournament 1st Round; New Orleans, LA
Season Series:  Tied 1-1
Robby's pick:  Ole Miss.  Both Mississippi schools have work to do to get in.  Not all is lost, especially if they can survive any opening round scare that may present itself.

Nebraska Cornhuskers (12-17, 4-14) vs. Purdue Boilermakers (20-11, 10-8)
8 pm on ESPN 2
Big Ten Tournament 1st Round; Indianapolis, IN
Season Series:  Purdue - 1-0
Robby's pick:  Purdue.  They may become patient zero of the deadly Nebrasketball virus if they let their guard down, however, the home advantage they'll receive will keep them from contracting it.  Unless Robbie Hummel blows an ACL. /trollface

Stanford Cardinal (21-10, 10-8) vs. California Golden Bears (23-8, 13-5)
9 pm on FSN
Pac-12 Quarterfinals; Los Angeles, CA
Season Series:  Tied 1-1
Robby's pick:  Cal.  Although this series is brutal in basketball, Cal is just an all-around better team.

South Florida Bulls (20-12, 12-6) vs. #23 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (21-10, 13-5)
9 pm on ESPN
Big East Quarterfinals; New York, NY
Season Series:  Notre Dame - 1-0
Robby's pick:  South Florida.  Notre Dame tends to not play it's best ball away from home.  The Bulls now have calmed the nerves after their win over Villanova and are here to prove themselves to any remaining doubters.  I'm not one of them.

Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (11-19, 4-12) vs. Miami Hurricanes (18-11, 9-7)
9 pm on ESPNU
ACC Tournament 1st Round; Atlanta, GA
Season Series:  Miami - 1-0
Robby's pick:  Miami.  What has happened to the Yellowjackets' basketball program?  WOW.  Miami's looking to leave nothing to chance when it comes to their at large bid.  They take care of business in Atlanta.

Texas Longhorns (19-12, 9-9) vs. Iowa State Cyclones (22-9, 12-6)
9:30 pm on ESPN 3
Big XII Quarterfinals; Kansas City, MO
Season Series:  Tied 1-1
Robby's pick:  Iowa State.  Texas is fighting their way into the tournament but no one is looking better than the Cyclones right now.  Steve Hoiberg has done an impeccable job this year in Ames.

via Nike
Georgia Bulldogs (14-16, 5-11) vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs (21-10, 8-8)
10 pm on ESPN 3
SEC Tournament 1st Round; New Orleans, LA
Season Series:  UGA - 1-0
Robby's pick:  Mississippi State.  There will be an influx of cowbells in Nawlins tonight.  Mississippi State is fighting for their tournament lives, not dropping another game to Georgia would be huge.

Colorado Buffaloes (19-11, 11-7) vs. Oregon Ducks (22-8, 13-5)
11:30 pm on FSN
Pac-12 Quarterfinals; Los Angeles, CA
Season Series:  Tied 1-1
Robby's pick:  Oregon.  Colorado has everything to prove tonight, but my gut tells me the Ducks just keep on rolling.
