Seriously... y'all better not fight.
For most everyone, the College Hoops season is over. So we're looking ahead at what's in store for teams next year. We're starting at the bottom, and previewing each team all the way to the top in the power 6 conferences. Next up is Penn State of the Big Ten and Texas Tech of the Big XII.
The Nittany Lions have had a really bad, no good, terrible, year. Let's forget about last year. Everything. Let's start from scratch! Leaving the program is G Cameron Woodyard who graduates, but they also lost their star halfway through the year in Billy Oliver. Oliver decided to leave the team due to recurring problems stemming from concussions. I'm sure I speak for everyone in wishing Billy the best in all of his future endeavors and hopefully he can get feeling better. However, this leaves Penn State without 25% of it's scoring and another 21% of it's rebounding from last season. That's a nice chunk. Luckily for the Nittany Lions, they retain a bunch of young stars, mostly Sophomores and Juniors next year. I like their shot at an NIT berth this year. As much as that may sound like a backhanded compliment. I swear that it's not. They have two recruits coming in, PF Brandon Taylor (**) of Tabernacle, PA and Akosa Maduegbunam (**), a SF from Charlestown, MA. They also return their leading scorer, Junior Guard Tim Frazier, who is also the team leader in assists. See, not all is bad in State College, and things certainly have no where to go but up (hopefully).

JORDAN TOLBERT! via MySanAntonio.com |
Since my team plays in the Big XII, I got to watch a lot of Texas Tech ball. It was awful. Like, some of the WORST stuff I've ever seen. They're young, so maybe it'll get better. It HAS to get better, right? A lot of that will depend on what happens with Toddrick Gotcher. He's been hurt all season, but before the injury, he averaged 7.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, and 2.6 apg in 9 games. He should be back in the line up, and we'll put him back in so you can see what the line up looks with Gotcher. The Red Raiders are losing Forward Robert Lewandowski to graduation, who accounts for 11% of their scoring, and 13% of their boards. I'm sure that will be replaced as Tech has plenty of good young forwards coming up. The Red Raiders return their leading scorer Jordan Tolbert who will only be a sophomore. Tolbert averages 11.5 ppg and 5.7 rpg. The Raiders are also bringing in PF Wannah Bail (***) from Houston, PF Aaron Ross (***) from Little Rock, AR, SG Dusty Hannahs (**) also of Little Rock, SG Michael Carey (**) from Houston and JUCO Transfer Daylen Robinson, a PG from Moberly Area CC in Moberly, MO. Expect Bail and Ross to get some playing time off the bench as Billy Gillespie likes to play big, and play quite a few of them. They played FIVE forwards in their rotation all season. Time will tell if they can close the gap with Texas A&M and Oklahoma at the bottom of the Big XII next season, but with their youth, I think you can expect a better season in Lubbock. Also, all the dust storms.
STARTERS:
G - Ty Nurse (Sr.; Vancouver, BC) 6'1", 180, 8.9 ppg
G - Javorez Willis (Jr.; Homer, LA) 5'11", 171, 8.1 ppg
F - Jordan Tolbert (So.; Fort Worth, TX) 6'7", 210, 11.5 ppg, 5.7 rpg
F - Terran Petteway (So.; Galveston, TX) 6'6", 185, 3.1 ppg, 2.0 rpg
F - Jaye Crockett (Jr.; Clovis, NM) 6'7", 200, 8.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg
BENCH:
G - Toddrick Gotcher (So.; Garland, TX) 6'3", 190, 7.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.6 apg
F - Clark Lammert (So.; San Antonio, TX) 6'8", 185, 3.0 ppg
G - DeShon Minnis (So.; Philadelphia, PA) 6'3", 200, 3.1 ppg
G - Luke Adams (So.; Big Spring, TX) 5'9", 150, 4.2 ppg
And Coach Gillespie, if you even think about not playing Luke Adams next year, I will personally Tanya Harding your knees.
